Each year, pending availability of funds, the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences (MCSS) will consider requests for seed grants or meeting/workshop support for promising space-science-related research projects for the subsequent University fiscal year. A call for proposals will be issued to faculty fellows of the Center in advance.
These grants are intended to better position researchers for proposals for external funding.
Requests must include a title (plus a short title), a brief description of the project, personnel involved (a faculty fellow must be the PI), a rough budget, and a description of the anticipated results and impact of the project. If previous seed funding has been received, results from that funding should be included, especially any papers published, or external grants awarded. A typical request is in the range of $25K to $50K. Short CVs for personnel involved in the project should be included.
For meeting or workshop support, a plan for the event, personnel involved, and a rough budget should be included.
Proposals are due by December 13, 2024.
