Second Annual Astronomy Festival at Tower Grove Park

Take a trip to the stars and beyond at Tower Grove's Astronomy Festival!

Several members of the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences at Washington University are participating in the Astronomy Festival on Saturday, September 30.

Members from the Department of Physics will help you make your own telescope and the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences will have Mars and Moon meteorites and planetary globes on display.

The following affiliated partners of the McDonnell Center will also be presenting at the festival:

  • Astronomy on Tap will host physics professor Tansu Daylan who will give a lecture on exo-planets at 6:00 pm. Talk sponsored by the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences.
  • St. Louis Astronomical Society will provide a special view of the moon, planets, and stars through telescopes from 7:00-9:00 pm. On this date, we expect to be able to view the full Harvest Moon, as well as Saturn and some stars, contingent upon clear skies.

The festival schedule of events also includes rocket launches, drone demonstartions, a special screening of Wall-E, and more. Come join the fun!
