Physics Colloquium with Michael Wiescher on Threshold effects in stellar reaction processes
Michael Wiescher (hosted by Lee Sobotka) from University of Notre Dame will be presenting at the Colloquium on “Threshold effects in stellar reaction processes”
This talk will discuss a number of pronounced single particle and alpha cluster phenomena near the particle threshold that emerge due to quantum coupling effects. These configurations may exhibit substantial influence on low energy proton and alpha capture reactions in stellar hydrogen and helium burning environments. The possible consequences of these threshold features will be discussed for a number of nucleosynthesis environments.
This lecture was made possible by the William C. Ferguson Fund.
